The sad news has broke that Jim Ervin sustained damage to both his medial and anterior cruciate ligaments on his knee and this will keep him out of first team action for 9 months.

Linfield have found themselves quite unfortunate with this injury, with players in the past such as Martin McGaughey, Trevor Anderson and Ritchie Johnston suffering from it, and only just last season, Oran Kearney and Conor Downey.

The staff and members of Hatchets and Hammers wish Jim the best of luck in his operation next week and a speedy recovery, we hope to see him back in the hunt for trophies next season!

Davy Larmour & Winky Murphy are another couple of our players who have suffered from this terrible injury.

Keep the head up Jimbo, we'll be right behind you on your way back to full fitness.

Bad news for Wee Jim. Hope we see him back in a blue shirt sooner rather than later.

with jims contract being up in the summer i hope that linfield look after the lad and stand by him during his troubled time,if linfield show jim the same dedication that jim has shown linfield,i cant see this being a problem

just talking about that tonight damron and feel if linfield let him go i nthe summer how cowardly it would be but hopefully nothing like that happens, it now means that dj will have to go out looking for another right back incase anythign happens to dougie.

but thats another matter, keep ther head up jimbo and were all thinking of you

I think Linfield will look after wee Jim, its not really the Linfield way to leave a player to rot when things go wrong. They have looked after, to my knowledge, all of the players above who suffered similar injuries cant see Jim being treated any different.

All the best Jimbo keep the chin up!!

All the best Jim.

I think that we do our club a diservice, as in the past I expect them to do right by Jim, as they have done with players in similar situations in the past.
