Noel and Glenn two Linfield Legends. Both 36 and 37 respectively. Next season is going to be a testing possibly transitional period for the club. What should we do with Noel and Glenn?

Keep them both and if they warrant a place in the starting 11 then so be it. But if not, they will be indispensible to the squad , the younger players have so much they can learn from both, Spike in particular would be a great impact sub.

(Rumour has it Spike will granted a testamonial next season so he'll play 90 minutes of each game and remain at the club until replaced by his son Matthew)

They are both valuable squad members. Noel has been his usual self, after a shakey start to the season, and Ferguson has been providing the goods when they are needed.

Both should be given new contracts for next season, but neither should be used for the full 90 every week.

Anyone with a bit of sense knows that both the perfect impact subs for when we are struggling to get ahead.and when things arent going our way at the back.

I did vote to keep them both on, however its highly dependant on DJ to use them right.

We've got 3 players in the team, 2 will go down in the annals of time as the Irish League's greatest, and 1 will rightfully remain in the Linfield history books as a legend (wee pat). However clinging onto and relying on these two just holds future development of the team back and its clear we need to draft BJB into the centre before we have to worry about Winkie retiring or draft in another young CB, same goes up front for blooding in either Stewart or another CF.

I voted to keep Noel and let Spike go.

Reason for this.... Noel can play an invaluable part in the development of our 'new' defense. IMO he can also still contribute next season as a squad player.

Spike... IF DJ would use him correctly as a sub I'd have voted to give him another year also HOWEVER IMO as long as Glenn Ferguson is at Linfield FC David Jeffrey will play him as a starting player.
So with this in mind I think it's best to start afresh in life upfront on the Linfield forward line WITHOUT Glenn Ferguson.

I voted to get rid of both. Whilst i think the two do still have something to offer, i think they are holding us back from addressing their positions long term. And to me thats what we should be looking at, i really worry that both will be starting most games next year and that the Glens could improve past us.

I agree, however I still think in keeping Noel we would have the benefit of him helping mould the new defense without him on the training ground.

Also, not a bad sub to have up your sleeve in a 'backs to the wall' situation.
His coolness and organisational skills are unequaled at the Park.

I think the two of them both have something still to offer the club. Both in terms of games (but not Saturdays and midweeks) and experience to guide the younger players

KEEP THEM BOTH AS SQUAD PLAYERS

Letting them go could well come back to haunt us. Can't see Noel having the heart to play for another team though.

Both should be used as squad players and both would walk into any other team in the league at the moment. Why would we want to give that away? Another 12 months for both then reassess.

Noel's 37, and Spike turns 39 in July.

There's even parades on that day to celebrate.

As a side note, young Matthew scored the winner in the Irish Cup final at his age level.

Let's hope his dad emulates him on Saturday.

The way DJ was talking Spike up on the news tonight theres no way he is letting him go.

Meaning a well deserved testimonial.

Keep both definitely, use them in moderation but try to find adequate replacements. The ideal situation for me would be Spike and Noel sitting out the League Cup games and starting new players in their positions from the off to see how they get on and let them settle in the team. Use Spike and Noel if necessary but in general save them for when they are really needed.

I voted to keep them both as starters. However I am not niave enough to think they culd or would start every game. They should be rested when possible but I would be loath to call either a squad player/ However I do feel if our squad was used better both would have big roles next year.

How can we possibly let either go when it seems (if strong, persistent rumours are to be believed) that we are about to lose Tommy Stewart & Mark Dickson and our manager has chosen not to give young BJ Burns any time at First team level to see how he does.

We can't let Noel or Spike go anywhere as we might, yet again, be relying on them next season...

And here we are a new season. The same problems. Still insisiting with Ferguson and Bailie. To be fair to the latter, currently his partner is much worse than he is.

definately not.. apart from the fact spike has a footballing brain and commands respect on and off the pitch... when DJ was sick who took the training... spike, bailie and alfie wylie.. mclaughlin contributes nothing to our team...
